I brought back from #CampALowHum two T-shirts, a CD, good memories and my first case of #Covid. I probably picked it up at the Store, the only inside place I went to. Or maybe chatting to folk at the Safe Spaces tent. Probably good I don't have work this week and that the library has wiped fines for overdue books.

@npub1zg9…nh26 With hyperthyroidism there's a quick check you can make. Feel for a pea sized lump in the middle of her throat. If you find it, that's a sign. It wouldn't exclude the other issues.
Our cat developed a lump and the vet diagnosed hyperthyroidism. Medicine (cream in her ears) worked for a while but the condition returned. She's now too old and frail now for radiotherapy but is still hanging on in there but sleeping more.

@npub17nc…9dam Thanks for helping with this mahi. I don't know tororaro but I have fond memories of Muehlenbeckia axillaris from my field work as a biology student on geckoes. They find that species of muehlenbeckia ideal for shelter and for tasty fruit.

@npub16uk…pv7k @npub19xu…e8yd @npub18p3…t9gh And circling back my agreement on the cartoon wasn't specifically on any need for a specific Minister but the "Urgency" and the visible aging of the advocate for change as government stalls.
My climate activist friends are still advocating but some are aging out of energy needed to achieve change. Just as well the younger generations are marching ahead albeit without power to effect transformations needed.

@npub16uk…pv7k I'm aware of my own willingness to paint people as bad even for using language I regard as offensive. Like "guys" as a gender neutral term (it's not). Or not respecting people's pronouns. Or opposing the use of the Oxford comma.
Partly joking but also aware that language often indicates deeper views - like oppositin to use of Te Reo may accompany casual racism or opposition to honouring Te Tiriti.

*Checked. She has a bike but is reluctant to drive in traffic. Mixed messages in this article, like wanting to pedestrianise Lambton Quay.

@npub16uk…pv7k I equate bad with active evil - particularly in deeds planned and executed, versus those who are ignorant and unthinking.
Bad people gain benefit from their evil and are unlikely to change. Those who are ignorant or uncaring may be responsive to learning or could be motivated to change. Sometimes the motivation will be a wish not to be charged with lawbreaking or suffer social stigma. Truly evil/ bad people will continue regardless, just trying harder to avoid blame.

As a positive, I have seen Nicola on buses and being an active walker, as well as driving her smallish car around the city. Never seen her on a bike so maybe she can't imagine that experience?
