I want to like the Sette but man is it ugly! I know looks aren’t everything but you do have to look at it every day.
I think the noise would be a problem for me too. I can easily grind with the 078S and even the Ode without waking up a napping kid across the room.
Should we be judging a grinder on being able to grind a dose without waking up a child napping nearby? Probably not, though it is a fun data point!

@npub1ep8…29a5 this is the test result from mixing one gallon of distilled water with a small packet of Third Wave Water’s espresso machine formulation. If I recall correctly, the SCA says you should be between 35 and 85 ppm? I guess I’ll try half a packet. I’m also curious to test the output of a Brita filter. #coffee #espresso @npub1adp…tyak @npub1m5z…mdw7

I’m looking forwards to reading this. A friend has a J-Ultra he doesn’t want and, while it would be a very silly upgrade from a J-Max, I still kind of want it.

if you’re testing a 078S, are there any pre-review tips that you can share?
I’ve found that I need to give the catch cup a few good shakes as the (very effective!) rotary knocker puts all the fines on top. I guess I could try some extra-thorough WDT.

@npub1ep8…29a5 this is anecdotal but I’m getting very nice shots out of a brand new Timemore 078S without having to season the burrs with an insane amount of coffee like some YouTubers have claimed is necessary. Quite a few of them have mentioned needing to do that, so there’s probably something to that bit of data, but I can’t corroborate it.

do you feel that the step size on the ESP is granular enough for espresso? Am I wrong or is it 20 microns? What kind of shot time difference does a single step make at that size?

ah, sorry to hear that. While Cloudflare does have a CDN, I was more thinking of the feature that proxies your entire site so they can handle DDoS attacks for you.
