Just had a coyote follow my dog and I for about 10 minutes. They didn’t seem aggressive per se, but they were completely unintimidated by my shouting. I definitely did not like the stalking behavior.

I found the bad version of xz on my Macbook, but fortunately it looks like it doesn’t actively exploit macOS. 😬
It was installed via Brew due to being a dependency in 4 other packages I actively use. Brew had a patch waiting, which curiously just downgraded xz to an earlier version.
"These conditions include targeting only x86-64 linux" and "due to the working of the injected code... it is likely the backdoor can only work on glibc based systems."

They go on to explain:

I am not at all interested in participating in Facebook's continued surveillance capitalism.

I don't mean to stir the pot. I don't care what others do as long as they are informed. The reason I will continue to block #Threads is spelled out in Meta's privacy policy:
"If you interact with Threads through a Third Party Service (such as by following Threads users, interacting with Threads content, or by allowing Threads users to follow you or interact with your content), we collect information about your third-party account and profile... your content... and your interactions."

@npub1vfq…57sa I've used Mint, Rocket Money and Copilot. I highly recommend Copilot. I think it's the best of the bunch. Two caveats:
- It's iOS/macOS only.
- It requires a subscription.
I pay $69/year, but think I'm on a cheaper grandfathered plan. Sometimes you get what you pay for though. Some of the competitors have unsavory business models and I don't want to risk that with financial data. Copilot says "we’ll never sell your data or promote other companies’ products."

I think instance admins should leave it to their users to block #Meta (or not). All the tooling is already there; it's very easy for a user to block an entire domain.
As a user, I will definitely block.

Someone built a bridge that allows you to use @npub1rky…0xq2 to connect to #Bluesky, and it actually works. Some things are predictably missing, like notifications, but for just browsing your timeline it works fine.
