Unfortunately, pesticides are easily available and used in Germany. Checkout this online shop of one of the largest DIY stores: https://www.bauhaus.info/unkrautvernichter/c/10001038#26369895
It's not a problem if you only use your own grass clippings.
However, I had one lot of compost from the council's compost works that contained aminopyralid. That nasty will kill everything but grasses.
I reckon it got into the compost by some folks dropping off contaminated clippings at the compost works.
