Back in 2015, they decided not to keep me after my startup got folded into another startup. They said I was "too experienced." Now, here I am, nine years later, and I'm still getting job rejections for being "too experienced." Hilarious.

SF contractors (and probably contractors everywhere) are the worst. Always get multiple bids. I need to repair my garage door. Bids are currently ranging from $425 - $4000 for exactly the same amount of work.
Previously, I had a hot water heater replaced. Bids were $1000 - $3500 for the same water heater. Painting my house? $20k to $50k. Most of the variability in price there was from the price of the scaffolding, which is nuts. It's the same damn scaffolding. It's not like some beat-up old scaffolding is worth $20k more than other old scaffolding.
