@npub12f7…lkxh I received two laptops as a gift for my kids (a 6 y/o boy and a 9 y/o girl) but I'm completely unaware of a good parental control app for Linux and my relatives suggest I give up on Linux and just use windows instead. I've been using Linux since 2004 and I honestly don't want my kids to become windows users. Have you got any recommendation? We use android Family Link to control their use of a tablet they have. Is there anything similar for Linux?

@npub1zpu…qh6x this is imho the right decision. Striving for Binary compatibility without being a 1:1 clone is a good goal and opens the door for an even better implementation than RHEL itself. it makes competition possible, and that's a good thing.

One of the things I miss the most as a #Manjaro user, is the constant stream of news that other popular, non-rolling distros, enjoy after each stable release. People talk about Manjaro only when something breaks or something worse happens: nobody talks about interesting features or the fact that Manjaro is actually VERY stable (provided that you are in the stable branch and you don't use AUR). (Sorry about the final rant... it wasn't planned initially :)) @npub188q…3jlx

Today I freed myself from #YouTube. I Signed up an account to my favourite #invidious instance https://i.devol.it , I imported my subscriptions from YouTube, then installed #newpipe from F-Droid on my phone and did the same. After the necessary imports and configurations, I am completely satisfied: Everything's super fast, ad-free, without trackers and algorithms. I can even listen to music and playlists in the background without any special subscriptions. 🤯🎉🔝 https://newpipe.net/

The reasoning is interesting, but it is based on approximations and assumptions that are yet to be proven. For example: perhaps it is true that underneath it all the vision of Apple and the other Silicon Valley giants is what is described in the video, but before this becomes a mass product and realizes the kind of apocalyptic vision described in the video it will take decades...
