@npub13vv…0sze @npub1vps…fj4f Soooo many times I've said that to my father. I still don't look forward to his tech support calls, but once I shifted to a more educational approach, it got easier. He's also learned to stop blaming me personally for the entire modern tech industry.

@npub1upk…tcwy Strange Loop was awesome for a number of reasons, and diversity was a big one. Alex and the team really put in the work to make it more friendly.
You might want to take a look at KCDC. I've only been once, last year, but I enjoyed it. It's also in roughly the same geographical area as Strange Loop.
It's more specialized, but you might also enjoy Write the Docs. It's a whole different vibe to most tech confs, and I bet a lot of people there would love to talk with you.

@npub1lks…a4mq I'm envisioning a clickbait list of occupations that might say "Hmm, that's interesting. I don't know what's going on here," ranked by how concerned the listener should be. With, I dunno, linguists and textile specialists on one end, and physicians and nuclear technicians on the other.
