@npub1efv…4jx2 blockchain was always a solution in search of a problem; the metaverse failed because no one actually wants to hang out in an oculus for the sole purpose of watching ads on loop and AVs cannot succeed without massive infrastructure changes to cities that allow the cars to essentially constantly communicate with all the infrastructure around them

The article quotes a federal government estimate that half of “upper middle class” Americans who earned more than $4.75 million per household will have to enrol in Medicare for care eventually. Enrolment is predicated on exhausting your savings and selling off assets. To qualify you basically have to be destitute, ensuring there’s nothing you can pass on to your kids

@npub10pr…qn7d @npub17cc…nwac Or, the pieces of fruit used for garnish - lemon rinds, pineapple leaves - arent parts of fruit we consume and would go in the trash anyway. Using them at least as garnish before they hit the trash seems much less wasteful

The #barbie movie is everything, go see it, etc., but on reflecting today: there’s something profoundly distressing in the fact that you can make a movie explicitly criticizing the Mattel corporation, indeed corporate America writ large as a vector of patriarchal power and greed, producing and reproducing subjugation, and Mattel will fund your movie because that power is so untouchable, so entrenched, that the movie is simply going to result in more profit
