I'm not a fan of traditional social media and never really used it. I tended to gravitate towards reddit to pass the time since it was less about the who and more about the what.

Technically it is and always has been distributed since relays aren't mirrors of each other.

I'm forced to use the ipfs-car CLI library now web3.storage (and nft.storage) have started to make their process a bit more restricted. I avoid using their NodeJS libraries wherever possible since they change / break too often. https://web3.storage/docs/concepts/car/#ipfs-car
Previously you could shove any data you want to an IPFS endpoint and it would kindly return the IPFS CID, now you need to generate the CID and some other file-specific info prior to uploading.
Thankfully getting data is still straightforward and can be requested anonymously from any number of IPFS gateways.
Happy to share NodeJS snippets if you want a primer since it's a bit tedious to work through their docs.

Been using for years on and off and has massively improved in terms of speed. IPFS is basically like Dropbox or something now in terms of speed from upload to download availability.
Protocol labs did raise almost half a billion so some of it must have been put to use.

Not OP but I developed an OTA update system for electric motorbikes and sharing of their log files - it works well for this use case as I have a free 5GB account with web3.storage.
Skimmed your article and yes it's built by Eth maximalists so I'm unsure of the reliability going forward but it's great riding on the back of all the defi wave for sharing relatively small files around in a distributed manner.

Battery technology is still under heavy development so charge time and range will certainly improve and possibly outperform ICE technology in the next few years.
Modern cars have so many computers that remote disabling is possible regardless of powertrain. Hackers showed this a while ago with a Jeep in the US they took complete control of from another state via the entertainment unit.
I don't see how ICE cars are better when it comes to technical simplicity... 1000's moving parts in an engine and gearbox vs a battery and motor...
Crash safety is far superior in EV's too since the weight can be properly distributed and much lower down.
I love ICE vehicles and have developed powertrains for part of my career but there is no comparison for me between an ancient, loud, dirty technology vs an EV.

If so I don't like the idea of publishing all my passwords to a public service like Nostr, even if encrypted. Seems like an unnecessary risk/honeypot scenario. There is the keyfile/password combo that adds another layer of encryption I guess.
I prefer security by obscurity, where a non-standard solution poses the biggest effort to attackers.
