No veteran in my family carried guns except in combat. 100th Battalion, 442nd RCT. Called the Purple Heart Battalion. Look them up. 4 of my uncles and one cousin served there. It was a segregated unit used as cannon fodder. No guns at home. One Uncle served in New Guinea with Aussies in US Army Intelligence behind enemy lines. No guns. I was born and raised in the Middle Loch of Pearl Harbor, my families homes were straffed by Zeros on Dec 7th. No guns. My cousins were in combat in Vietnam, one in the Green Berets. No guns. My brother served in the Gulf. No guns. My younger second cousin served in Special Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. No guns. You don't sound like you respect their service - Trump does call all of them losers and suckers. In my family we call them patriotic Democrats. #HarrisWalz2024

I come from a family with generational US military service overseas in combat, who are proud to have served, and never used or needed guns at home. Yeah, they don't love or glorify war because they know how terrible it is, and yeah, they're all Democrats.

I do, as well. I take our national path forward with deadly seriousness, I have to. It's my only country. I don't want my only choice to be "who will take in our beloved cat?" as we are marched off to internment camps as Japanese Americans like me were once forced in the past, as everyone else stood by silently.
We disagree about the best path to get there, but our intentions are the same. Thank you for your thoughts.

I am a night owl. I love the quiet and dark of night, the stillness of the palpable sense of most of the world in slumber, in dreams, the reassuring sounds of a light snore heard through a door. I write and compose best then. My wife thinks sleeping late is anything past 4 am.The cat, however, rules the clock at our house.

My sweet dog used to get jelly when we were visiting other's homes, and I would be sweet to their dogs. She would look very very sad. When I had to pee, she would insist on squeezing into the bathroom and sadly curling around my feet. It was funny and adorable because of the very dramatic sighing.

Trump's well-established tendency to be flippant, sarcastic, and mocking which is venerated by MAGA as proof of his teflon superpower to goad and bully others while claiming "it's a joke (stupid)" is his weakness.
The recent ad of him "wanting a Purple Heart" without earning it, which was flippant then, when juxtaposed to real soldiers wounded in combat, shows Trump as unfit for the solemnity of Presidential duty.
My uncles and cousins grievously wounded and permanent scarred in combat were awarded Purple Hearts, and never joke about it. They count themselves lucky to have survived while their comrades died.
