no, see, they actually are political, as they should be. Masks are good, actually, as political symbols and tools for fighting oppression, and should be understand exactly that way. Our enemies understand that. That's what I'm trying to put forward. Masks have always been political, and bemoaning that reality is a recipe for years of defeat.

I'm not saying this to be mean. I'm just saying, unfortunately, you have to join a politically organized group, if you want to make an impact. Small or big. You decide. Our opponents understand that this can't be apolitical. That's why they're winning. Your mask ideology is on the left. Find a pro-mask left wing group you like and join it. We are in a political fight here whether we choose to see it and act accordingly or not.

no. YOU need to understand that masks ARE political, that Covid always was political. That public health is a political concept, and the kind of public health we get is entirely a political question. Always. The reason we are LOSING so badly is that too many people who understand Covid is dangerous, don't understand how their own system works. You can't ring-fence certain things to be "not political". That's just you promoting technocratic neoliberalism, which is the ideology that got us here.

what was significant about Kennedy/Nixon was the medium of TV. Nixon won the debate, according to radio listeners. Kennedy won on TV because he was so handsome! Neither Trump nor Biden are handsome, and we've had them both in our living rooms since the 1980s. We know them like our own furniture. This is going to be totally trivial in its effect on the results.

people forget that Kennedy won that debate by knowingly, falsely claiming that there was a "missile gap" that America was losing to Russia. Ike had already given him a secret briefing that this was not the case. This ushered in a period of massive nuclear proliferation. But he was so handsome! Like Camelot!

no they won't. There's no new info to be had. Nobody is going to find out anything about these guys in a debate that they don't already know about them. The Kennedy debate was significant because it was the first one televised. No debate can have that kind of power now. They will both say bizarre, irrational nonsense and both sides will seize on that as proof that the other candidate is unfit for office. And then the news cycle will move on in four-to-six hours. You'll see.
