The City of New York is famous for how hard it is to find a public restroom in it. @npub12xd…0x6n Right, I’m well aware of the pattern of burning VC money till you get close enough to monopoly power that you can dictate the price for your product, which consumers can’t live without.
But I don’t see any numbers out there indicating how likely this is for generative AI.🤨

I’ve read enough to be persuaded that training and running LLMs uses huge amounts of energy.
Obviously this is closely related to LLMs’ lifecycle cost, but it’s very hard to find information on whether any generative AI company is anywhere near making money.
Could ChatGPT be losing money at $20/month?
