seems a dubious distinction though. the reason this was tried at all was because our backs were against the wall. California and Oregon refused to accept them as their value relative to gold dropped so fast.
fwiw, from time to time the Fed even warns the Treasury about our deficits. would this not remove that little guardrail? how do we get our fiscal house in order then? can't just be solved thru tariffs.
to be clear, I agree some serious monetary reform is way overdue, and the buck has gotta stop somewhere. I just don't see this being anything short of chaotic.
I gotta stack harder.

we rightfully rail against the Fed. but as @npub1a2c…w83a often points out, this period of money printing is fiscal rather than fed-driven.
would we put the same energy into resisting a direct debt monetization, as existed in 1863, when the greenback was backed by nothing but 'in God we trust'?
cause it looks to me like that's a direction djt could be moving towards; a direct monetization of t-bills on XRP & SOL (esp in light of Barron's recent tweet re the Fed, which I mostly agree with).

we call it a block subsidy for this reason imo. not that ordinals is 'great for Bitcoin' or 'fixes' anything, but it reintroduced the idea of an on-chain Bitcoin denominated market, and how important that is for bitcoins future.

I discovered (rather re-discovered) Levar Burton recently on Spotify while searching for a Ted Chiang short story to share with friends ("The Merchant at the Alchemist's Gate'") but have since been enjoying many others.

similar dynamic w my niece. She has very hard to deal with behavioral problems but also knows it and knows she's treated differently. She adores my son and he treats her alright, which is 10x better than most others, kids and adults. But she can become obsessive, jealous and abusive.
Every one of us in our family has lost it at her, often for good reason but way too frequently for none at all. I hate it for her.
She's recently turned to music, has done some super positive/supportive girls rock camps, and seems to be turning a corner, but it'll always be with her, both the OC behavior and the spectre of others unjustly dogging her.
