@npub1hds…7r3g 1 fraction is 1 multiplication cycle, moving the PC, and testing more fractions during each iterations is still more work(I think?)
So basically it just merges rules, I feel like I've done that optimization by hand many times, I've been meaning to make a kind of linter that warns me when fractions can be merged together, but I haven't wrapped my head around when that is possible and it isn't yet

Today in chaotic batshit crazy computing: A stack-machine can be implemented in #Fractran, but it's not for the faint of heart.
The theory is that we can keep a stack of zeros and ones in a single register using binary encoding for that number, a little like Church encoding but with bit-shifting.
- Pushing a 0 onto the stack is equivalent to doubling the number.
- Pushing a 1 is equivalent to doubling and adding 1.
- Popping is equivalent to dividing by 2, where the remainder is the value

I think I might have written the first ever game in Fractran?
Fractran is a OISC that has multiply as its only operator, it has no ram and a rewrite-style control-flow. It was invented by Conway in the 80s but has been left mostly unexplored.

People are so freaking nice, obviously the HN thread has lots of negativity in it, but out of it came a handful of folks who reached out to us wanting to send us their unused computers.
Unfortunately, we can't make much use of Macbook as some of these won't boot at all without a working battery, which makes them awfully impractical for us.

Meteorological happenings tend to be extremely camera shy, or straight up lethal to the camera itself, but a few days ago, we have seen the most beautiful solar rings(circular rainbows, sun aura) and were able to capture them on camera just as they appeared above our sail.
