The higher people are in the neurotypical social hierarchy, the more they are used to other people regulating their emotions, which has an impact on their ability to empathize with others. This means that the most powerful people in our society lack emotional maturity and the ability of putting themselves in other people's shoes.
I came to this conclusion after reflecting on my conversation with a psychiatrist, which felt like having to deal with a frustrated toddler.

#ActuallyAutistic people appreciate routines and sameness, which means we are familiar with "getting used to something". Many of us tried very hard to get used to "normal" things (e.g. driving a car) to the point we got traumatized and wondered why life hurts so much. So if an Autistic person tells you they can't do something because of sensory issues or other aspects of their disability, don't tell them they will get used to it.

The discussion about the #ActuallyAutistic hashtag is really annoying. It's the hashtag for Autistic people either self-indentified or officially diagnosed and if your research about the Autistic community didn't provide you this knowledge, then maybe you should do more research or ask the community before you start complaining. Who are you to criticise a hashtag that connected and empowered thousands of marginalized disabled people for years? (1/2)

Does anyone have any idea where to find a sensory friendly, affordable apartment in Germany? I am currently trying to move back to Cologne (because my friends live there), but it seems to be impossible.

I realised that living alone as an #ActuallyAutistic person after many years of being in a relationship is really helpful concerning the process of unmasking. I feel more connected to myself, have more energy despite being in a difficult situation and my ability to regulate my emotions has improved because I can follow my routines with less distractions and don't suppress my stimming.

I am currently reflecting on how many things I told psychotherapists before I knew, that I am #ActuallyAutistic, could have been misinterpreted, because of that lack of knowledge and it really blows my mind. So many autistic traits could be misinterpreted as criteria of PDs, when you don't know enough about autism.
Do you have any recommendations for books or articles about this?
