@npub17sh…6e06 It's just depressing what's happed here in the last few week. The more or less perpetual rain after the Hans event ends up causing higher floods than Hans itself!😩 It's by far the worst natural disaster in my lifetime. Billions in damage. And a lot of places are now very prone to avalanches because the ground has been weakened, so this just plain sucks.

@npub17sh…6e06 No, not in Oslo. But it's a sort of dim version of daylight in the middle of winter. Feels kinda like evening for a couple of hours in the middle of the day, and then it gets dark again. It's pitch black when people go to school/work, and pitch black when they go home again. Bit further north than Trondheim, you get the perpetual darkness and no sun. Way up north, the sun doesn't rise for months.

@npub17sh…6e06 Only dumb people and people with vitiligo get sunburned. And vampires, I guess😂 One of the main tunnels in and out of Oslo is still closed, actually. Still floods all across Norway. It's the worst I've seen in my lifetime, that's for sure.

I have an autoimmune disease called vitiligo (it causes the immune system to kill the pigment cells in your body), so I can't go out in the sun much. But I do enjoy the evenings.

@npub17sh…6e06 Floods got even worse again after the latest rainstorm, so now you can't get from Oslo to Trondheim at all, except by airplane. This is getting tiresome, even for weathered old scruffy Norwegian vikings like myself😒 The weather down south was nice today though.

@npub17sh…6e06 It doesn't look promising for LA right now, I hope it doesn't get too bad. We're used to rain here, but Norway is big and sparsely populated. So we have a lot of infrastructure per capita here, to put it that way. Internet and electricity is still kinda fragile out in the countryside during bad weather events. And it usually takes a while to fix.

@npub17sh…6e06 The storm never really got that far south, so I hope not. But there's always a chance the water levels will increase again. Not exactly ideal to get this now! It's really pouring down, so the internet and/or electricity might cut out. It happens sometimes out here in countryside with heavy rain.

@npub17sh…6e06 This mostly concerns the inland parts of Norway, so it's not easy. The landscape is very harsh and there are mountains everywhere. Most people live in the valleys that are now flooded. Difficult situation!

@npub17sh…6e06 A lot of places are left without any connection to the rest of the country right now. The worst areas have been evacuated, but that will definitely be a problem in the coming weeks. It will have to be done by helicopter if the roads are shut for longer periods. The military will probably help.

@npub17sh…6e06 Yeah, this is the worst one I've ever experienced. And it's gonna take months to get everything going again. All the major roads and railways between Oslo and Trondheim are closed due to damage now. Some places the road just straight up vanished and sank into the river.

@npub17sh…6e06 It's not happening in Oslo, thankfully. It's happening in a city called Drammen, which is the second biggest city after Oslo in this part of Norway. We have family there and we're kinda worried right now. Most of the city centre is close to the river. Could be really bad. We'll see tomorrow and the day after.

@npub17sh…6e06 The flooding is just starting, unfortunately. All that water has to go out to sea now. The largest city in eastern Norway apart from Oslo is on course for a "1000 year flood" tomorrow, so it's not over yet. The destruction is immense. Worst I've seen in Norway in my lifetime, that's for sure.

@npub17sh…6e06 Yes, probably. But there's not really any way of travelling to Oslo right now. The roads and train tracks are flooded/destroyed. Lillehammer is probably gonna be a refuge. It's the biggest city in the "eye of the storm" and most of it is a bit higher up and slightly protected from the floods. People are being evacuated by helicopter everywhere.
