@npub1jzp…72dw But a big difference is of course that this cube is intended to separate similar forms of handwriting; to classify, to create distance. Whereas Noordzij’s cube aimed to show relations.

Visited a lecture on tenth century handwriting with my dad. Ed van der Vlist (Royal Library The Hague) presented, among other things, Gumbert’s Cube. A design space model for mediaeval hands. “Masters” indicate single/double storey a; long s and f on or below the baseline; ascenders with/without loops.
This model helped to locate mediaeval handwriting in time and space.
