I went down this path a number of weeks ago.
Alby no longer supports LNDHub or lightning for US based customers. Primal seems only option? sad as WoS was great.

I just realized the 420k didn't come out of my primal wallet yet, but the post shows me zapping it. if I try to do it again Primal says "can't zap at this time" any ideas anyone?

Why I zapped 420,000 sats:
I've been following Daylight and listening to their podcast appearances for awhile and came to a few conclusions:
- The founder and team are genuine. It is rare to see someone (especially in tech) be truly driven by what they believe in, not just a platitude they say but then secretly hate their customers and work.
- If you want to see the world change in ways you would like, you have to step up yourself and support those people, products, services. This is what I love about Nostr and about this idea from Daylight. You can't just sit back and expect others to do it for you.
- I have kids, I want them to grow up and harness the amazing power of our technology, but not be destroyed by it. This may be part of the solution.
- I also want to see a more decentralized world, where people have control over their time, devices, data
I did not zap this amount to win a discounted tablet - of course it would be great but this is an amount that I feel comfortable completely giving away to boost the company on Nostr and with others. Proof of work, proof of conviction, putting actual value behind your words and opinion.

Different display tech and software, so pros and cons to each. This is the first ever reflective LCD that also has an amber (zero blue light) backlight. So you get benefit of having the screen very close to the glass, like eink, but with no ghosting or latency, plus a way to see in the dark. On software side you have access to android apps.
As the founder said, it's kinda like the kindle and an ipad had a baby

I'm not sure as their website says "Andrdoi 13" but also that it runs "SolOS" - which sounds like their version to keep it light and distraction free.
However, while I don't know what it ships with their founder said they will be releasing bootloader unlock tool

Remarkable seems good for just reading, drawing and making notes. This display is faster so different experience, more versatile with OS that won't be locked down and ability to add apps (also no subscription service like Remarkable), and Remarkable can't be used in the dark without an external light source, whereas Daylight has amber light.

Different display technology is the biggest. Remarkable 2 uses e-ink (like Kindle) where Daylight uses reflective LCD tech. Advantage to RLCD is it is super fast (you can actually watch videos, scroll and zoom are better). While eink has improved, there is still some lag. Also, remarkable 2 doesn't have any kind of light, where Daylight has very tiny perforations allowing them to light the screen from behind in an amber color (no blue light). This is different from Kindles that use tiny lights in the edge that shine onto the eink.
On software side Daylight is looking to be more open (founder said they will offer root kits) where Remarkable seems very closed (even has a subscription service for cloud storage and syncing). Daylight is version of Android so you can load in all kinds of apps if you want.

What do you think about adjacent spaces, for example performance track records of money managers? I think there are a lot of similarities...easily gamed, don't transfer with the person, not verified etc.

Found out what was wrong with not being able to zap from Alby:
Alby infrastructure isn't supporing sending lightning in the U.S.!
WHY DIDN'T I HEAR ABOUT THIS EARLIER?!
Just like WoS, they won't support US and are winding down their LNDHub (which I was previously able to use to send from Blue Wallet).
So...my experiment to see how easy it would be to onboard to Nostr on mobile only has been challenging to say the least.
- I'm sure Primal is the best if it works
- If Primal doesn't work, and now both Alby and WoS are not available as custodial solutions, what is left for a new user?
I run my own node, so I could connect Alby there and would have gotten there anyway, but again, the point was to see how easily and frictionlessly this could work.
Next up is trying Mutiny.
As an aside - I don't blame Alby and @Alby deserves a lot of credit for proactively reaching out to me after seeing this post.

New Nostr user update: quite frustrated with zaps onboarding.
Primal wallet rejected me.
Setup Alby and can receive zaps just fine.
Problem is sending zaps.
Using NWC with Alby seemed smooth in the setup but always get the "configure funding" error.
At one point I was able to import my Alby wallet to blue wallet and send zaps from there but now get the same error.
Have been in contact with Alby support but they have moved it up to someone else and haven't heard of a solution.
My objective was simple: onboard to Nostr with the simplest, even custodial, solution to stay receiving and sending zaps.
Any other things I can do? This first experience has left me pretty frustrated with Nostr zaps, which was the whole appeal.

Update from new Nostr user onboard:
Object was to first do as easy of an onboard as possible (custodial), and try to do mobile only.
1. Primal is great, best feature is to suggest follows. But the wallet activation failed for me.
2. Alby was slick, even setup to receive sats and got some in first week!
The problem came when trying to zap and SEND Sats, kept getting an error.
3. Finally got my LNDHub data into Blue Wallet and can now send!
For some reason the nostr web clients still stink for me trying to login with the Alby extension they just hang or crash (on Firefox)

Anyone know how to zap from Alby?
I am using #Amethyst and have Alby setup and can receive zaps. When I try to connect my Alby, the setup seems seamless and a breeze where the address, relay, and secret key all import, but when I hit zap it looks like it goes and then returns an error.

1. This technology and community is awesome!
2. Got alby working to receive zaps, primal wallet rejected me
3. Got 146 zaps sent to me after only a few messages! Amazing feeling
4. Primal client is slick, much better search and discovery
5. But Amethyst seems to work better, especially for showing videos and other posts natively

Very good (and funny!) summary overall.
I've read the book so some of your questions are answered there, things that the movie just couldn't get to.
The biggest departure of the movie from the book was the ending IMO where Chain rides off into the sunset on a sandworm. In the book she accepts the political move. It's quite interesting as this is literally the last line of the whole 800+ page book so I found it quite surprising (I'm still undecided how I feel about it):
“Think on it, Chani: that princess will have the name, yet she’ll live as less than a concubine—never to know a moment of tenderness from the man to whom she’s bound. While we, Chani, we who carry the name of concubine—history will call us wives.”

just listened to the latest "money matters" with @jackmallers, some of my highlights and reactions:
- in markets you win or lose, it's binary
I get what he was going for here with every side of a trade has a winner and a loser. but I think broadly speaking, it is not true that markets are binary or all zero-sum.
- the idea that anything not in BTC is short BTC.
this is a very powerful way of thinking it makes you question your consumption goods and whether or not you really want to be short that amount Bitcoin.
however, I don't completely agree that you have to be all in and not have things like real estate or 401K because there is a non-zero chance that something might not work out with Bitcoin and you only have One Life to live. so why make a binary decision when you can still do well with your Bitcoin AND have a backup plan?
- the culture of strike measuring cost of capital in BTC.
this is absolutely amazing! how can we get more corporations to think this way?
