@npub15wt…7rek it's simple. It's bigotry and misogyny, especially internalized misogyny. The white women voting for trump hate other women and see them as "competition" because they've been conditioned basically from birth to feel that way. They look at a competent, intelligent woman of color and get angry that she "thinks she's better than them."
Fascists encourage this crap and it will never end with "the next generation" because it's cyclical.

Hey friends, I'm looking for fluffy, cozy, sci-fi and fantasy book recs by indie authors. Minimal conflict. Light romance is fine, but not as the main plot. Found family works too. Triumph in the face of adversity is fine as long as the adversity isn't too fleshed out and traumatic. I just want comfort reads to hide in for a while and trying to find books amongst the AI crap is a pain

@npub15wt…7rek you know the sad thing is, they do have power. Someone pointed out that blue states send a lot of red extremists to Congress, which further damages red state citizens. Also, the CA Republicans who moved here (TX) over the last 10 years have truly brought the loud and dangerous anger with them.

@npub15wt…7rek it's got to be a brain wiring thing. But then, I tend to cry more at things involving animals rather than humans. Back in highschool all my friends were crying over a scene Steel Magnolias and I just sat there making sniffing sounds so that they wouldn't think I was a monster.

No. I've written a lot of scenes that *would have* made me cry if I was reading them, but since I wrote them, they're neutral. To me, it's like trying to tickle myself. It just doesn't happen.

I am an old person who will 100% misuse the latest slang with reckless and cringe abandon. I will accept that I am not a relevant demographic for much of anything these days. But I will not participate in the "my generation did blah blah blah and your generation sucks" nonsense because that's literally not how things work. Yes, when we came of age is a factor in shaping our personalities, but it's only one of many, and not even a very significant one. Stop equating age with identity!

After yesterday's #WritersCoffeeClub question, I saw a lot of online debate about ebooks and libraries. Yes, trad publishers can and do charge excessive fees for library copies, but remember, #IndieAuthors set their own prices. The minimum for most services is 99c, which is what I charge.
Remember: if you're mad at trad, read indie!

@npub1q32…xgsx So Bradbury paid $30 a month rent late 40s. My first apartment was $300, mid 90s. Bradbury made $1500. I probably made somewhere around $10-15k, so for 50 years, things kinda sorta inflated on a flatline. Today, rent in most cities is $3000 and I sure as hell don't make $150k. Yeah, anger is highly justified.

Yesterday I went to check on my very neglected Goodreads account and discovered 3 books I hadn't written attributed to me. At first I thought maybe this was AI made by some poor unfortunate who actually thought my name was known enough to piggy back off, but no, they're "writing journals" published through Amazon, which baffled and confused. Further investigation found many people using KDP to produce notebooks. Do people actually buy these? It seems like another passive income scam.
