Reading the USB HID specifications. The term "gnarly" seems applicable, though it's all very neat once you grasp how vast a territory the term Human Interface Device (HID) covers.

@nprofile…65pc Your laptop is a sizeable hunk of impervious material, the weather has been hot, and so you've likely been inadvertently restricting air-flow around your thighs while simultaneously introducing excess heat from the laptop. I think it's likely a heat rash or some similar skin irritation. Talk to a doctor anyway.
Despite the name, laptops aren't supposed to sit on top of bare legs. Use a table or a laptop stand, whenever possible.

I'm getting a message on the laptop I use for Windows. The gist of it is that this perfectly good ThinkPad X1 Yoga i5-6200U is no longer supported in Windows 11. It's barely 12 years old, at which point a ThinkPad is only getting started, and it's in perfect nick.
This, and their recent spyware shenanigans, are making me seriously consider abandoning Microsoft.

And I'll get three bills for the rescue, and then I will be forbidden to ever disclose my sexuality. And then, a new mcguffin will change everything.
