My first bottle bomb in eight years of homebrewing. Yay, I guess?
Entirely my own fault. I thought "Eh, there is no significant amount of sugar left in that beer, the fermentation is complete, let's bottle this" and the diastaticus yeast gave me a little lesson in humility.
I'm fine. But if you brew and bottle: Don't be dumb and arrogant like me. Make sure that primary fermentation is really finished before bottling

Does anyone have a recipe for a good Baltic Porter? Most homebrewing recipes I find are specialty malt soups with more than 20% Caramel Malt and that's waaaaay too sweet for me.

Aww maan, I got better at mashing again. 16°P instead of 15. Which means that I get a 7.3% ABV. beer (assuming an FG of 2.5°P).
Welp. It's not going to be pintable but it's going to be beautifully strong. Works for me too.
Now for the cleanup. Yay...

BREWDAY!!!
It's about time I made that Belgian Blond Ale again. It was the star at our housecooling party and with its "Belgianness" in a somewhat pintable format, it's super versatile in addition to interesting and super delicious.

And this year's hop harvest is in. Enough Hallertauer Tradition for a Dubbel and a Helles, lots of Cascade for a nice American Amber Ale and Hüll Melon in spades for a beautiful Belgian Blond and whatever I am going to make as 2025's summer beer. I'm really happy with that. Just a bit sad that I don't really need the wild hops this year.

Went to a beer tasting yesterday. I'm really getting to a point where I find beers beyond 7% ABV exhausting to drink. 😖
I guess I am more of a Dubbel guy. If I can get all the wonderful flavors and aromas without getting toasted in the process, why would I go for a Quad?
Or I am just getting old... 😅
