hmmmmm.... Everyone raved about Baby Reindeer on Netflix. I was underwhelmed but it won all sorts of awards. I think Ripley is on Netflix. Excellent.

Where do I fight this encroaching fascism. Where do I start? All the usual political activities seem so inadequate- voting, GOTV, donating, talking to people, registering voters, etc etc- it all seems rather quaint now. Take to the streets? Never seems to work. Organize when our party would rather go after its own members than trump? Everything is broken. Someone send me a roadmap.

It's lovely here. Did long walk then took a lovely nap and soon we will eat Thai take out. I'm celebrating my last day as a 72 year old woman. How the fuck did I get this old? Thing is...I'm in decent cardiovascular shape, and I'm not too demented yet. I'm grateful- by the time one sister was my age she was pretty out of it. I walk four miles most days and swim and swear a lot. I can't possibly be this old. I demand a recount. This age is fake news. Is it possible that being a bit wild in one's youth slows down the aging process? Is vast amounts of weed when young the antidote to aging? I ponder these questions daily.

Since that eclipse I've had the first line of King Of Pain by The Police in my head "there's a little dark spot on the sun today". Cannot get rid of it. This led me to do a Police retrospective- They were really a great band in their early days.

oh, how wonderful. I would love to study it in depth as I'm sure that there's much I am missing. When I am done with this read I plan to read Why Read Moby Dick by Nathaniel Philbrick. Do you recommend it?

So re-reading Moby Dick is an absolute joy- I'm doing it slowly and it is delicious. I appreciate it so much more this time around. I like under the blankets with my kindle and chuckle. Melville was a witty guy.

Vernor Vinge is one of those writers that I had a hard time getting into. I should try again. If I can appreciate Greg Egan I should be able to appreciate Vinge, right?
