Not sure how much they've improved them but the initial versions definitely seemed like a trip to uncanny valley to some extent, especially if you know what the person is really supposed to look like. Still pretty cool though.

I read an Associated Press article that said some of the accounts that have vanished from Twitter "were prominent supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro". Do you know who these were, what kind of stuff were they posting and were they like politicians or what exactly does "prominent supporters" mean?

yeah it is a good step forward and it seems like it's in already. I'm guessing they're not visible without logging in since I could not see it on the web interface myself though.

while it is true Bluesky allows a third-party bridge to exist Bluesky is not federated in practice at all. They do say they want to make it such but currently what they announced as "federation" is severely lacking. Mastodon is not controlled by a single entity in the same way at all.

more and more interesting accounts see to be enabling it. I was really glad to see posts by [@esqueer_@threads.net](https://threads.net/@esqueer_/ ) appear on my feed recently.

for a subcommunity it might be different but overall bsky isn't doing much better than fedi right now. It's been losing active users for months and this latest wave has only brought like 30k people back that mostly were just returning to accounts that were dormant according to the stats.

I agree with your basic premise which I assume is something like fediverse > Bluesky >> Threads >>>>> X. But of course that doesn't prevent recommending one thing more than something else. At this point I think getting people to go anywhere other than X is really a good thing.

on the bright side it seems to me like the number of accounts that have it enabled has grown well. Entirely anecdotal but I just seem to find more journalists and others to follow from there than ever.
I do remain just as sceptical about their intentions unless this feature becomes popular enough for them to think twice before killing it at some point.
