@nprofile…j2fu sigh, I think the way people expect GTK callbacks to work, versus the way Rust wants to think about memory ownership, is very much at odds. I hate the clone!() macro so much.
I think the solution is unidirectional data flow and functional reactive blah blah blah... as per my GUADEC talk :)

Evolution stopped loading my google calendar a while ago; today I fixed it.
* Looked at session logs; GOA was complaining about telepathy entries for irc and jabber which I haven´t used since FOREVER.
* Deleted those entries from the config file (had to hunt for the config file a bit).
* Killed all the goa daemons.
* Deleted shit from gnome-keyring.
* Re-added google account in the control-center, let it log in with the browser.
* It works now.
This jank is bullshit and keeps people away.

@nprofile…0n93 I feel like there's no way to win with traditional lessons unless you are innately super talented. Struggling with a piece? Teacher berates you for not practicing enough, or well. Aced a piece? Teacher says, good job, and moves you to the next piece (that you didn't pick) so you struggle again.

@nprofile…0n93 Miraculously, my daughter and I found a piano teacher a couple of years ago that actually makes it a joy to go to class.
- Doesn't berate you for not practicing. You can practice during the lesson and that can be your practice for the week.
- Doesn't assume that your one goal in life is to be a concert pianist.
- Actually cares and asks about one's other activities.
But all that you have said was (also) my experience as a child. I hope music education is changing.

In retrospect, I can imagine something like:
- BASIC allows only global variables, no functions.
- You start learning structured programming; using local variables takes getting used to.
- You keep around some globals for the program's context, it's mostly fine.
- You try to turn your prog into a library.
- You discover that global variables in libraries can be particularly nasty.
- Then if you have API compatibility requirements, you can't always expose a context object.
