Yes!
rEFInd with dual-boot. It was a bit harder than expected, but it worked.
It was a virtual machine, but I've written down all what I did, to make it happen in an actual laptop with two drives.
This is the year of NetBSD desktop! At least, in my house.

I took me several days to go through "Linux From Scratch" book. That is, building a custom linux distro from sources.
On the other hand. Building NetBSD from sources requires to read only one wiki page.
I regret not teaching my self BSD systems earlier in my life.

Making yet another backup of this 2013 hard drive.
This is the oldest drive I have and it's still working. Always stored away from sun and moisture. And always transported with care.
It will fail at any moment, though. That's why I don't use it on a regular basis.

My quest to teach myself #NetBSD continues.
While I don't have supported hardware, I do have a machine capable of lots of virtualization.
I already know how to encrypt a disk.I still need to learn and (ab)use LVM and RAID and see how different is from Linux.
If I know how to throw more disks to a problem, or deal with a dead disk I can do some #selfhost in NetBSD.

I just installed NetBSD on a Macbook Air from 2017.
I took me almost all day lol. Had to read a lot. And learn a lot.
It has a CGD drive with /home, /var and /usr partitions. I have no idea how to encrypt / yet.
Let see if I can use it as my daily drive.

Now I have to install the #photography tools and other things to see if the work as expected. Or if I find workarounds.
Sadly, because I always stick to defaults when I shouldn't, I don' t have enough of virtual disk space.
I will have to add a second drive and move /usr again.
Good thing is that I'm gonna have the opportunity to test #lvm on #NetBSD .

It was surprisingly easy!
Most of the desktop tools that I use were included as packages.
I used #i3wm and reused my dotfiles.
My #archlinux dotfiles were almost enough. Weirdly #alacritty didn't like the TOML config file format. Had to use YAML.
Fonts, icons, etc have almost the same names as in Arch. Emoji fonts worked! I honestly didn't expect the emoji fonts working lol
The only thing that I miss is #NetworkManager. What is the #NetBSD alternative for NetworkManager?

So, finally got #encrypted partitions with in my #NetBSD installation.
Couldn't do it with the installer. So I installed everything on a small root partition.
Made a cgd device with partitions by hand and then moved /home, /var and /usr paritions.

- WTF is a disklabel?
- Why is there a partition c that big? Why is a partition d even bigger?
Spends 2 hours reading online docs and history about retro-compatibility.
- Oh, that's why.
