CSS is improving and expanding so rapidly that I can’t keep up.
But every time I’m working in CSS these days, I find a new widely supported feature that 20 years ago we were fancifully day-dreaming about how amazing it would be while also believing it would never actually happen.
Now CSS offers one-liners to do things that were borderline impossible (or entirely impractical) even with JavaScript. Why anybody still leans heavily on JS is beyond me unless it’s a lack of awareness.

I think React is largely horrible too, but I constantly wonder if all the energy spent hating it could be better spent sharing knowledge that shows how to do things with less code, complexity, and overhead via web standards.
Facebook got us here by “marketing” React. Can we collectively erase that with a flood of increased awareness through more content about “holy shit, look what HTML and CSS can do without any JavaScript”?
Or maybe functional/OOP-oriented devs will just never embrace CSS?

Youngest asked for approval to download Google Docs. I showed her Pages was already there, and she immediately rejected it as too confusing.
Wondering if Google’s Chromebook strategy is to indoctrinate the little ones and hope they’ll be close-minded once they have choices.
(Not that Google Docs is actually better or worse, but it’s fascinating that she didn’t even want to give Pages a chance.)

If you're ever stuck on a bug for more than ~15 minutes, type out a precise explanation of the problem as if you're sending it to a team member for help.
Include everything you've thought of and/or tried as well as any additional context you think might be related.
You'll find the issue before you're done typing it all up. In the rare cases you don't find it, make one editing pass and send the email.
Alternatively, describe the problem out loud to nearby pets or plants. It works. Guaranteed.

Have never encountered a project where the JS package management and/or build process wasn't a brittle mess that very regularly wasted hours of time troubleshooting. (Regardless of which package manager or build tool was being used.)

I'm joining the ranks of folks looking for a new job.
While we've know for a while that I might need to move on from egghead/Skill Recordings if revenue kept declining, we kept at it. And yet, it declined.
I'm wrapping up some stuff through the end of March, but if you know a team looking for a one-legged, seasoned Rails developer with front-end, UX, SaaS, and marketing experience, I'd super-appreciate an introduction.
