I’ve loved #fashion as a form of artistic expression since I was a teen, and that hasn’t changed as I’ve aged. I’ve been a chameleon of sorts, interested in all kinds of things, but I’ve always wanted to somehow merge my love of Jazz Age fashion with my goth roots.

Seeing a lot of buzz about how the #fediverse is losing users (almost always based on #mastodon numbers) as they drift to things like Threads and Bluesky. Anecdotally I’ve noticed a drop in “engagement”, but I’m not really phased.
This is the weird kids table in the school cafeteria, with the D&D club and goths. We were never going to be the “big thing”, and that’s good.

Follow-up: stitching together the bits reveals several seconds between each chunk and each begins with a blank frame. Probably transcoding errors and then recovery, I'm guessing.
Gonna disable auto VoD and just record locally then manually upload VoD until I work out why. Just so's folks don't get spammed 😁

Getting into #puppet building *and* being into #tech my whole life has given me perspective on the #AI bubble.
It was assumed CGI would kill puppetry. It has not. There is not and will never be a synthetic replacement for the real, the organic, and the human.
I don't think "AI" (the marketing term at least) is going anywhere but the shine will come off it when we see the edges, like how dull and lifeless CGI looks today even though it's "better".

#FOSS folks, question: I’m thinking of making my email and associated services a bit more robust. #protonmail had a good reputation a while back but I haven’t kept up with news. Any reason to avoid it? Good/bad experiences or business practices?

Holy *bleep* I think I got it! Launched a test instance available to the Internet with SSL and no errors (other than mail config, but that's next).

The buzz and fresh push around #peertube has given me an extra boost to try and get my instance running. I finally got it going locally but am having the (expected) issues around properly configuring my reverse proxy and SSL etc. Because I only half know what I'm doing 😂
Still, pretty good breakthroughs today and I'm certain I can get there if study more and type a lot.

Come the new year one of my plans is to really engage with the #Fediverse. There will be an @npub10d6…h95g channel, more integration & activity on my Wordpress site, and Fediverse-exclusive content.
I'm forced to be on corporate socials to drive sales, but I'm here because I want to connect with people, not algorithms. That's something worth cultivating.

I’m well into the Great Microsoft Purge. No machine I own is running Windows any more. I have cancelled all MS subscriptions. I’m keeping one Xbox cuz I own a lot of stuff on the platform but the 3 others (don’t ask, long story) will be either going up for sale or donated.
If they’re all-in on AI garbage then I’m all-out.
