I have to show you my daughter's amazing living room, all decorated by herself from charity shops. All the frames are hand painted by her, as are the various skeleton bits and bobs. She's really into her gothic stuff as you can tell 😊

Good morning lovely people of this here Fediverse 💕 I am playing Upstairs Ninja today and am obviously now a Master as all is still and peaceful downstairs 🙂 Managed to sort out Jamie's toy situation yesterday, so she happily went to roost at the back of the cage again last night. I did spend most of yesterday evening chasing Toby, who had a fine time waddling around and trying to chew on every wire he could find, often yelling "Wow!" when he saw me coming for him. That boy! 😂
Just a heads-up up. I may be erratically online the next wee while. My old Mum is in hospital and it's not looking too good unfortunately. I'll still be keeping an eye on the competition and all your posts though even if I don't post myself.

I can't remember hearing a storm like this one before. Normally you get the wind howling and the banshee shriek of the higher gusts, but with this one there is a constant sound up high, like you hear when a jet plane is passing overhead. It's really eerie.

Some of the Kids' drawings toys I am asked to make are just a riot of colour and imagination 🙂 This recent make is a good example of that. It's supposed to be all one creature, but I worked the pieces separately and joined them via little crochet loops so that the wee boy could play with them individually if he wanted to.

Have you tried Extreme Crochet? With this method you super size things by using thicker yarn and bigger hook sizes. This means you can use exactly the same pattern to make much bigger versions simply by scaling it all up.
A good example is my (free) Tree Thangs pattern. It's written for the normal sized Thangs which are about 30 cm using DK yarn and a 4 mm hook. To get the much larger Tree Thang, I used 5 skeins of DK yarn at a time, with a 12cm hook. If I had wanted to make an even larger Tree Thang, I could have used multiple strands of a thicker weight yarn and an even bigger hook. With enough yarn and a hook large enough to handle it you could theoretically have a Thang the size of an actual tree 😊
If I ever get around to making my Troll, for which the giant crochet foot that keeps Toby away from wires was originally made as a concept piece, I reckon he'll probably be about 5-6 feet tall!

A belated good morning everyone 🌞 Friday is my longest lie day and I made the most of it today, nipping in and out of little micro dreams 😊 It was just as well, as I was up about an hour beyond my normal bedtime playing Dragon Age Origins. There's loads of political intrigue now with the Landsmeet being close to being called. I'm planning to finish DAO, move on through the series as games become discounted. It's going to be quite some time before I get to the newly released Veilguard, but I'm in no rush.
Vet visit yesterday for Ziggy went well. They drew blood again so we should have the result back next week and can see how the liver is doing now. Zigs managed to escape three times so the vets and assistants had to chase her around quite a bit. She may be naked, but she can fly just fine 😂
Working on the crochet toy order today.

Good morning you lovely lot 💕 All cosy here at Parrot Central with Ziggy currently cuddled up in my hand again grumbling away with contentment. In a moment she will demand "Come! Come!" and we'll go and get her medicine sorted out and breakfast will commence (okay, Toby's breakfast has already commenced as there is no way that the eating machine is going to wait until the cage lights are put on first 😂). It's in cosy moments like these that I am grateful for my calm, routine life and ever more aware of the privilege of having one.
I finished the little lost toy crochet replacement yesterday so I am hoping to post it this morning before we head off for my grandson's 18th birthday lunch.

@npub19dj…n6qc I class myself as mild. I can only work three days a week now and only from home and that means I need to spend the next four days recovering. Even then, some weeks the challenge of work, both mentally and physically can become overwhelming and I can crash. I don't think most medical professionals are very well informed. I often get eye rolls if I mention I have been diagnosed with #mecfs

I am getting a real hankering to make another argyle blanket again. I made this one a few years ago using Red Heart Super Saver Pooling. The secret to #crocheting the #argyle pattern is planned colour pooling. It can be a bit tricky, and definitely depends on the yarn you use, but it can be extremely satisfying when you get the hang of it. Would you like to #crochet a jet plane for the airplane enthusiast in your life? I made this one for my daughter as a birthday gift (along with the flight ticket 😉) when she flew to the States a couple of years ago to visit friends she has made online during the lockdown.

A lot of what I do for custom projects involves #amigurumi and single crochet (UK - double crochet) so every now and again I like to make things like this #crochet granny square lapghan just to change it out a bit. I used King Cole Riot Chunky for this one in about three or four different colourways. It's a very soft acrylic and wool mix that is just lovely to work with and has wonderful variegated colours that work well in granny squares. #crocheting #fibreart #craft

Finished up my new #crochet slippers. Who says they have to be the same colours? 😂 I sew gripper mat onto the bottom so that they don't slip and are durable. I used to use spots of plasti-dip, but the gripper mat works better (and doesn't have the smelly fumes). I can get about 5-6 months of day to day wear out of these, with a few tumbles in the washing machine along the way, before the sole needs to be replaced. The slippers have double crochet soles, so even if the outer sole underneath the gripper mat gets a bit holy, it's easy enough to cut it off and attach a new one again. My piggy slippers are still around. I just need to repair them again and it only takes me a day or so to make a new pair so I splashed out on my mismatched ones this time 😊

This is the #crochet comic book character I was working on the last couple of weeks. His name is Puck and he is a space mutt. The chap who draws him is a very talented artist and I just hope I did his creation some justice. In the drawings Puck is clearly furry so I had to find eyelash yarn in his bright orange and yellow colours. Working with this yarn can be challenging at times (it is not good for pulling back out again if you make a mistake), but the end result is really good. #crocheting #fibreart #toys #amigurumi
