Nice! Glad you're getting out there! Still nasty humid here. I have been sooo slow this week. Not sure if it's just the heat or my new low-carb diet I haven't quite got dialed in yet or both...In any case I just remind myself I train in summer so I can enjoy big miles in the fall when it's nice! I hear you, but I feel like that really depends on who you follow. My feed is mostly homesteading types (not sure how that happened, but it's cool) who also occasionally mention bitcoin, but it's definitely more focused on raising/growing/foraging food, country/rural life, freedom of thought and speech, health, and much more. It's true, I originally found out about nostr bc my husband is a bitcoiner, and he helped me get my account set up, but I joined bc it seemed like a fresh start for social (and yay zaps), and now it has become much more than bitcoin. I think it will attract liberty-minded people, and then after joining they may eventually realize Bitcoin can be an important part of their freedom equation if they didn't already.

Cool! How do you define keto for yourself (carbs allowed per day)? I am just starting to reduce carbs for health reasons but not (yet?) to keto level as defined by most. It's tough for me, bc after being vegetarian for several years, I feel forced into eating animals I know probably had sh***y lives, bc to get enough protein on a real-food veg diet (especially as an athlete), too many carbs come along for the ride, and regen/humane meat is just too $$ and hard to verify. Why does the modern food system make it so hard to eat healthfully and ethically?? You have to be so vigilant just to avoid added sugar. 😔 Sorry to vent... and good luck on your keto journey!

Idk, I had a bridal lunch and we were already living together. It was more just about a pre-celebration with my female relatives. I didn't have a registry for it, and only a couple people brought gifts, which was perfectly fine. I think it matters how she frames it -- it could be very nice or it could be a gift grab. 🤷‍♀️

Spent a life-affirming weekend leading a relay team in covering 200 miles on foot in a unique event where the goal is for every team to finish at the same prescribed time on day 2, starting whenever you need to after midnight on day 1. 🏃‍♀️ Very little sleep, but an overflowing wealth of teamwork, friendship, scenery, physical and mental challenge, and just pure joy. I just made a camping reservation for a weekend with my sister and my adorable 1-year-old niece. This will be her first tent (or any) camping trip. Wish us luck! Sister wants this to become an annual tradition. I am touched and so looking forward to it!!

So I think this is a strong contender for worst bird photo ever, but I had to provide an attempt at #proofofbaldeagles from our local hike today! (It's the two blobs on the upper right of the tower.) Never seen them so close to home. We are lucky to have several state park areas and a medium-sized river not too far away, but this was in a relatively small parcel of forest in the middle of the burbs. So cool. Maybe they have a nest nearby!

I hope it helps!! I use a similar one before most runs, but you can use it anytime. I just sit on a chair and roll it underfoot. I usually set my other foot on top of the one I'm rolling just to tack a little more weight on without having to force with the bottom foot, if that makes sense. Good luck!

As if spending a couple of hours trotting through the woods on a beautiful day weren't enough to start my long weekend off right, today I spotted a male Scarlet Tanager for the first time ever!! 😃 Wow, it was so much more...well, *scarlet*...than even a male cardinal! The zeitgeist *among young people* may be that the future will be bleak...but raising/educating a generation of youth to believe the future is doom does a disservice to them and everyone else, I think. A commencement speech (and a difficult job for adults/educators in general) should take them out of that headspace and help them get back on the path of hope and even optimism, without obscuring truth, but also not getting hung up on catastrophizing. There is still a lot of good in the world that exists and more to be done. 😊

Fascinating thread! It seems many religions do some "abrogating," whether they acknowledge it or not. Being on a bit of a faith journey myself, I recently raided my grandmother's library (with permission!) and am currently reading What the Great Religions Believe (1964) by Joseph Gaer. It seems like a useful overview, and is helping me see a lot of connections/commonalities between what initially seem like very different faiths.

We weren't sure this day would come. Last year, he was so sick the vet suggested we consider euthanasia. I almost did it---he was so miserable. But eventually, with a ton of loving care, he returned to mostly normal (just a little more chill). I think he is happy he is still here, especially now that it is warming up. I know we are.
We don't know how much longer he will be with us, but are enjoying his company while we have it. I guess the same could be said of our human loved ones. Enjoy the time you have. You never know what the future holds. Cheers to life, nostriches.

Does anyone love baby ferns (i.e. fiddleheads) as much as I do? They're everywhere in the woods near me now. These are Christmas ferns, named because they stay green up to Christmas, and often much longer depending on the winter. #grownostr
