I'm a self-hoster relying on Steven B's Self Sovereign Software Emporium; Sovereign Feeds and The Split Kit.
However... I'm toying in my mind with moving both over to some well-regarded PC20-hosting platforms because my website for one show is terrible and non-existent for the other.

Your economic model may not be "wrong", but the way I read your thread here, this would be a clear step away from v4v because the subscription model immediately assumes a fixed value amount back to the podcaster on an assumed fixed value received by the listener.

So far I've made it to installing docker inside of an Ubuntu VM on my Windows host, built StartOS, and then almost getting the test hello-world-wrapper built but got kicked in the shins by permissions inside that makefile.
Right as The Mrs. gave me the "Honey Do List" look from across the room.

Nope, and/or depends. I'm not singing or playing an instrument on "It's A Mood". It's a podcast. I call it a "value4value music podcast. I throw in v4v talk, "the ask" and other bits of talk.
That's different from my "Mike's Mix Tape" which is, other than a <5 second verbal title at the beginning, 100% other people's music in a .mp3 file with VTS and chapters for wallet switching and ease of navigation/artist attribution. I can easily see that feed using medium=music.
