What can I do to speed up Nostr? I just paid 4500 sats for a paid relay (relay.orangepill.dev) hoping that might speed things up a bit, but still seeing slowness when using https://astral.ninja
Would it help if I remove some of my other relays that are probably overloaded?

I have done those steps. I thought maybe I didn't do something correctly the first time when sending a note in nostr, so i sent it again, and again a 3rd time after adding more relays.
