When I'm not here pestering people about viral illness, I am generally rolling in the mud, eating, or asking a friendly farmer to scratch my back with a stick

I've been thinking a lot about death last couple days. Prompted by helping my mom get her paperwork together, and by my own medical situation
There's a famous quote from a doctor who works with HIV and MECFS, where he says that the type of fatigue that MECFS people (and now long covid people) live with for decades is normally only seen in the last couple weeks of life, for HIV or cancer patients
That hit me in a very different way when I was reading hospice reddit last night, and seeing people talk about their family members who were able to go from the bed to the couch, and chat with visitors and stuff, up until 2 weeks before they died
It makes me realize how much I have lost
It also makes me realize why long covid is so hard for doctors to understand, because MECFS patients were been cut off from care for decades, until the advent of telemedicine
Suddenly doctors are seeing us for the first time, and we fly in the face of the expected pattern -- because the pattern was created by excluding patients who were too ill to come into the clinic, but who didn't die

My career, before long covid, was designing and green-building housing (and gardens). Mostly small multi unit, tho, no big ones
Buildings are designed to 'leak' enough that, without forced air and never opening a window, nobody will get woozy or die from co2. This is a requirement. Especially in an old building, you don't have to worry about bringing in more outside air
If you seal and/or filter all vents, and run a hepa filter as close to 24/7 as possible, that should be fine. In my humid climate, I also run a dehumidifier daily, when bathing or doing dishes especially
An additional option, which I have implemented, is to install a hepa filter machine in a window, sealing the edges. I run it when I have an exhaust fan going, e.g. the clothes dryer
Bc i am suspender and belt, i also wear a mask and run my indoor hepas when doing that

Well, there are reasons for fire codes, and the reasons are horrific
There are other ways to get ventilation into a hallway
In NYC, I'm not sure the outside air has that much less covid than the inside air, anyway

Yes, rose hips and rose petals are edible. Rugosa roses, which have much prettier foliage than the usual roses, also have nice big and juicy fruits
One good thing about roses is, they are extremely drought tolerant. They can make a nice center for a low water flower bed, with other stuff growing all around them
