A reminder to submit footpaths for recording as public rights of way because after 2031 the UK government will no longer accept claims based on historical use. Unrecorded footpaths will get built over eventually as we discovered on our walk last month around Finedon; not even the route through the pocket path is marked officially. Developers can apply for planning permission to reroute footpaths but only ones included on the so called Definitive Map have any kind of protection

Our first walk around Finedon, Northamptonshire 25th May 2024. We followed the railway sleepers along the old mining pit in the pocket path, hit a fence built across the footpath, past England's oldest pub(?), a special rock and onto Crusty's for lunch!
