As you can see, this account has lately been reduced to a mere collection of quotations. This is the result of asynchronously putting 200 hours into an internship program and putting hours into work. It has effectively put my mind into read-only mode. That will end Monday.
I am beyond exhausted, but hey, I learned a lot of real-world Python and Django stuff even though I'd never pick Python out of all the things. But Python is (a) so very popular, (b) ubiquitous like a second JavaScript and (c) very versatile so basically never a useless thing to learn more about.
Monday. It actually ends on Monday. On Monday I will reclaim the afternoons. I can start writing about computer shenanigans again, scribble poems again, hack on my posix shell unixy project again, read up on Haskell until I fall asleep again, I will actually start sleeping for more than 6 hours a day again!!

I've been wanting to move my configuration and personal notes repos to @npub1kzk…k9tq for a long time, but I had it in the back of my mind that they allow only public, freely licensed works.
Then someone mentioned to me you actually could as long as it's that exact use case, so I went to their Terms of Use to find a more explicit rendition of their actual policy. There I was happy to find the following:
> They are also allowed for really small & personal stuff like your journal, config files, ideas or notes, but explicitly not as a personal cloud or media storage.
Now, I do have more than a few configuration repos (because I like the separate histories) and I did place them inside a separate, private organization, which is what I used to do up until now at Gitlab. And while they are all just plain text files, my personal notes one is a bit larger with images accrued from course materials, the whole repo taking up 18.5 MiB as of now.
I hope that is "really small" enough?

FreeBSD 14.1 upgrade was smooth. I appreciate how the whole process makes you aware of each and every change that is happening before it actually happens. Add to that first-class ZFS support with snapshots before and after and you have gold.

Today I learned I can get back the classic em0 wlan0 network interface names on #Linux by setting net.ifnames=0 on the kernel command line.

Found this TUI for Mastodon called tut, which is a great improvement in configuration and documentation over Toot, although seemingly not udpated in about one year. Really like everything about it, but can't find a way to open a given post in the browser. I can open its links, media attachments, yank its URL, but apparently you can't just open the toot URL itself on the browser?

Also noticed that #DNSCrypt provides a large amount of binary distributions for #FreeBSD, #OpenBSD, #NetBSD, #DragonFlyBSD, #Solaris, among several other OSs, plus many architecture-specific binaries. That is really nice! Next thing will be deploying it on the beastie server.

Recently got a cheap 128 GB SSD to see how BSD would run on my main machine, and this weekend threw FreeBSD on it. I'm sending this toot from the working system, and aside from the general configuration joy of being an Unix nerd, finding almost everything I need to know in the FreeBSD Handbook is a great perk on the second joy: reading docs and being able to flow acting on them.
