That and the “sales” that weren’t, or you had to make wierd interlocking purchases or you just got charged full price.

If you try and follow someone, and it’s an account that requires the person to approve your follow request?
Use the private “notes” that you can put on their profile to note that you requested to follow them on X date , if they don’t approve it, you won’t accidentally request again and potentially annoy them!
(Since there’s no notification when someone denies your follow request)
I say this as someone who’s completely spaces whether I’ve requested 😂

Main gaming rig: 2012 Mac Pro “Cheesegrater” (running windows ofc)
Washing machine: 1978 (came with house bought after in MIL/FIL passed)
I will say our Dyson battery vacuum does a better job than my 70y old Kirby, but can it grind metal like the Kirby? No!😂
The washer pretty much does the job we expect and it can be (and has been) repaired easily.
The Mac Pro has been doing great, although it finally hit a game it can’t play: Starfield 🤬

If I’m checking in on Twitter1️⃣ and I see a good post/thread I retweet.
Then I check to see if the account has a Mastodon account and if they’ve posted it there, if not, I repeat for Bluesky.
First iteration comment: there’re a LOT of people still active on Twitter, with backup accounts on Mastodon/Bluesky.

What’s actually great about this thread is the solid practical discussion taking place. I say this as someone who grew up around trucks and off-roading in Arizona until I was an adult, most people absolutely do not use their larger trucks for what it’s designed for.

Our Acura MDX which has served us well for 16 years is faltering and I would replace it with another MDX except for the fact that all the new ones have giant hoods for NO rational reason.
The current MDX I can see a bottle on the road 3 feet in front of the car, starting in 2017 the hoods get bigger and bigger and it’s the **same** car!

That said I also hate this feature because it’s poorly implemented.
System settings → windows update
* change active hours - this is supposed to stop the machine from rebooting during that time
* advanced settings:
turn off restart this device as soon as possible
You can also kick back updates by about a month.
I truly hate the Microsoft update mechanism …

Anyone who isn’t doing something for him RIGHT THIS MOMENT is useless to him, they’re garbage. Doesn’t matter if they bailed him out of jail last night. It only matters what they can do for him NOW. The people in organizations who deal with them keep finding this out over and over.
But they keep hoping the outcome will be different each time somehow.

Funny thing about “sko” - I recently started watching “Letterkenny” and the actress who plays Tanis in LK is the same actress who plays “Deer Lady” in RD and in one episode Tanis gets up to leave and she says “sko” to her companions.
It’s subtitled “let’s go” in the English subtitles, but I played it back like 3-4 times and she says _sko_. Never would have noticed if not for Reservation Dogs. 😂

@npub1qw5…037m Right, and coincidentally we JUST had a big example of this with a very outspoken user and an instance and their mods/admins - high drama time and it was a complete shitshow.
On the PLUS side, the user moved instances, there’s been some recrimination back and forth but it only affected THAT corner of Mastodon instead of being a system wide issue.

Spiritually I agree with this take.
OTOH over the past months watching various members of marginalized groups give up on Mastodon due to harassment/instance drama etc, I can see why folks are giving BlueSky a whirl.
To be clear, BS has had its issues with this as well, but people who have high tolerances for online bullshit have been on mastodon and said “no thank you”.

It sounds like a number of people in his circles are about to find out that the personal philosophy that (IMO) guides his life:
“What can you do for me right now?”
Applies to THEM too.
Because they can’t bail him out
So they’re expendable.
