#OSM Then and Now is once more hosted from my 2011 ThinkPad. I didn't care for the $20/mo in hosting costs and as long as y'all don't go visit at the same time, this will be juuuust fine.
A nice unintended side effect is that I can tell when visitors request cold tiles by the fan spinning up.

I have had a #bluesky account for a bit but had never used it. I posted a few things on there and followed a bunch of people. It's a smooth UX but I have questions:
- I immediately felt like I was (back) in a bubble of left-wing political commentary / clickbait. Most of it not from anyone I started following. Is this an algo thing or is that just the makeup of the user base right now?
- What is its enduring value prop other than 'it's not twitter'?
What are your experiences?

After a year or so of using GitHub copilot, I feel like a worse programmer. I wasn’t great at it to begin with, but not having to look things up or deeply think about the problem in front of me definitely did not help. Especially when diving into a new technology / problem space, I find myself learning much less and forget whatever I do learn much more quickly.
Curious about your actual experiences.

What meetup offers me is visibility beyond your typical tech / OSS / geo crowd. I’ve gotten people to these meetups who know nothing about OSM or what’s involved with making maps.

My gut response is to disagree with this (I don’t believe that 1. trust / privacy is on the majority of consumers minds when choosing a phone and 2. consumers generally aware of those particular benefits of Apple vs Google) but the argument is new to me so I’m curious what you think.

Had a couple of interesting conversations earlier today about the impact of freeways and parking on how we think about our built environment, and the choices we make as a society designing it, and as individuals using it.
This inspired me to pick up an idea from a while ago: if we could see—and edit!—a map where those things were taken away, what would we come up with?
Today I completed the first piece of the puzzle: a map that shows a world without freeways. Next: let people edit it (harder).
