Streeting's diagnosis is correct but I have no confidence in any treatment plan he might implement. And thanks to the way Devo funding works it'll hit Wales and Scotland too.

Strange how we take work stress for granted. I was sacked in 2006, aged 54. Not ideal but I put together some part time work with freelance techie writing and found I was happier and more relaxed than ever.

@npub1g0t…tvm4 It's a slow motion, Tory policy disaster some of us have been complaining about for 40 years. First you privatise the big things, then you starve the smaller service providers eg NHS dentists and council-run care homes so they privatise themselves, then hand remaining public sector services to the 'third sector'. Finally you decide we need a dose of austerity and cut fees/funding. If the charities and trusts go bust then that's their fault not a government issue.

Instead they should publish a creed. A statement of the ideals they hold that will inform everything they will do if elected or in opposition. Failure to live up to those ideals should be challenged in parliament and used against the offending party at the next election.

@npub1hpc…hjn3 @npub14dr…j7jq That's the root of the problem. Politicians always look for a negotiated compromise, a face saving deal that allows both sides to tell their supporters they won, a tweaked budget that sounds plausible until the next one. They are totally unable to deal with hard facts.
