Does anyone have insight to running Elgato keylights, Elgato Stream Decks, Avermedia Gamer duo 2 capture card, and OBSBot Tiny 2 on Linux?
I am trying to gameplan for possibly transitioning my entire stream box to Linux from Windows 10 Enterprise, if at all possible instead of upgrading to Windows 11 Enterprise. But that's the main hardware I am worried about.

I'm planning on getting a growing rack for some herbs and peppers all year round. I may automate that a bit with a raspberry Pi and some sensors as I plan to put it in the guest room that has an ethernet drop and can tie to the PoE switch in the rack.
If anyone has some good automated projects for an indoor garden please share them with me!

I hung a couple plants in the kitchen for year round herbs for cooking. Will take a couple months to fully grow to the point it’s properly usable. But there’s rosemary and thyme in the kitchen. I think there’s plenty of light for them year round

I love how I can trigger a bunch of obviously white people on TikTok by merely seasoning my steak with a nice helping of spices.

I’ve decided to try cloning the rosemary from the yard so I can try to have rosemary indoor for year round cooking. I’ll probably buy some thyme from Lowe’s to do the same as we go through rosemary and thyme so fast it’s worth it.
I am waiting for some hanging baskets to have them in the kitchen out of the way but get plenty of sunlight

I purchased a portable gravity water filter for my next DEFCON trip, I will not be a schmuck spending so much money on bottled water to pour into my 511 hydration pack in my backpack. I'm just going to filter it in the hotel room and call it a day.
I like to make sure all my trip supplies are ordered and prepared one month in advance so I can focus on small odds and ends. I usually also have a bag packed 3 days before departure so I can double and triple check.

@npub1mmf…eknq the way AI works in Microsoft Teams is not even remotely the same. Especially when you understand the compliance tools Microsoft has and the certifications.
ISO, SOC, HIPAA/HITECH and etc. There's a huge reason I personally still use Microsoft 365 and recommend it to business especially if you compare it to Google, which in terms of business is pretty much the only real competitor (tons of tools need 365 or Google to hook in including my own security tools).

You know it's interesting that I think @npub1gzc…fsz3 is probably the one piece of software I have been using since Windows XP as a kid and still use it to this day. I even pay $10/year for a plugin to make Thunderbird work with my Office365 I use for my content creation so I can use it seamlessly on #Linux for contacts, calendar, and mail integration.
Despite all the email providers I have hopped between I still have used Thunderbird since around 2005 or 2006 #infosec #cybersecurity #opensource

I’m looking for an Android flip phone. Something that lets me minimize the apps and stuff I use but can still install Matrix, and Signal on. It’s solely for connecting with people.
I’m thinking of the Caterpillar S22 unless someone else has recommendations, but it’s got to be a flip phone. Not a foldable a flip phone. They were supposed to make their own protocol, AT protocol, but the reality is it’s still very much beta, with no ecosystem of apps, and starting from scratch. Plus there’s been issues with Bluesky staff apparently being toxic among other issues.
Either way I don’t see myself defederating until there is a real issue not a hypothetical one.

The current spam issue highlights EXACTLY why I made my own server and locked down registration. I don’t have time to actively moderate, anyone on my server I know is pretty chill from dealing with them personally.

Fixed a small issue I noticed with my email, only one of the two DKIM selectors were apparently returning results. Cycled the keys in Office365 and MXtoolbox says we are all good again.
Also forgot I even set DKIM and DMARC years ago, high five past me.

As much as I love #Linux and #OpenSource you can really tell often that the most puritanical people, e.g. the "I will block any proprietary software or people using AWS or etc." are so isolated in their little niche bubble that they don't realize that the majority of us have to work with this tech in order to even have a career in #IT or #Cybersecurity.
When I go home it's almost all #Linux, I opt for #opensource but at work, I use Windows with WSL and AWS. That's the reality for most jobs.

Plus there is way more business for me outside the USA and I have the ability to get citizenship elsewhere. I got a new RF toy keychain. It can passively tell if it’s a 125KHz RFID or 13.56 MHz NFC reader. It’s a dumb device otherwise just for easy identification and even troubleshooting

My newest book came in, it was written by my friend and mentor Elissa Shevinsky. Whilst working with her I had my eyes opened a lot to the shit women can face in tech both micro and macro, and she was a huge inspiration to push myself to further heights. I miss working with her, she is such a strong and inspirational woman she could inspire a whole room very easily to do better. She still inspires me every day

@npub1wmx…4slz The average user merely downloads an app, set up an account and logged in the average user, does not want to deal with researching which server they want to join and for what reasons, and then scope out the moderation. If you ever have to do tech-support for end-users, you will understand. Facebook is easier and most will stay for solely that reason alone. Users don’t want to reinvent the wheel to talk to friends and family

@npub1wmx…4slz you’re not understanding what I’m saying tech skills, I mean basic tech skills. The average Facebook user knows how to use a phone and their computer for basic tasks, they have trouble understanding new platforms. I work in IT and cybersecurity I see it daily. It’s one more thing they have to learn and troubleshoot. Anyone who would have abandoned Facebook pretty much has already or at least still has their Facebook and this platform and barely uses FB.

@npub1wmx…4slz it actually makes sense, #Facebook / #Meta needs to expand their reach, but at the same time retain their base. If users are leaving for the fediverse why not give them no reason to leave at all by becoming part of it. Most FB users aren’t tech literate so it disincentivizes their need to learn about another platform again, if they are already part of it. It’s the old, “if you can’t beat them, join them.” Either FB accepted change or dies 🤷‍♂️

I don't like thinking I'm an Influencer even though I am, to me I never wanted to be one, I just wanted to tinker and talk tech and accidentally became popular on tiktok over the pandemic. I don't do this for money and any money I make goes right back to tinkering as it's an expensive hobby, so there an LLC but centered around content and tinkering. Now I keep it going because it gives me access to better educate myself and others on tech. But I don't think I could ever do it full time

The annoying and telling thing about a bunch of these #cryptocurrency and #Web3 projects I find is when I actually talk to the devs so many blatantly do not understand infrastructure beyond code. So many projects claim to be decentralized but are maybe mostly in one AWS region like Ethereum staking nodes right now. Many devs use the buzzword of decentralization but don’t understand what it actually means. So far #Monero and #PIVX have the better idea among others though for decentralization

Damn thanks to ChatGPT I am learning how to code way faster by asking it how I would make certain things, and over time I study the way it's built and the explanations and have actually started correcting and building my own code as well as ChatGPT's own rendered code. I barely did python before #ChatGPT. It won't replace people but my god is it handy to learn from.

The More I use the @npub1vvu…pj6u launch keyboard the more I love it with the Brown switches as they are really silent for my streams but plenty fine for gaming. Quieter than my Das Keyboard Pro 6 with MX Browns as well. I will definitely be getting the launch or launch mini in the near future
