I truly think a skill that most people should learn is how to compile software. For the most part, it's pretty straightforward. Make sure you have the proper dependencies and usually follow some very simple make commands.
It's true that some more complicated software is going to take multiple steps to do all that, but I think for a simple plugin or CLI tool it should be something that most people can do.

Started a plugin for #Wordpress to http proxy the plugins and themes as a workaround for the craziness that Automattic is pulling on WP Engine.
I'm not a programmer but I got it to load the plugin menu.

There's an aesthetic that comes with the cyberpunk thing. However, I don't think anyone ACTUALLY wants to live there.
Let's be real, that's a future a lot of us are actively fighting against.
When I was a kid I thought the future was flying cars, now I think the future should be ethically built bicycles. Solar panels and compressed air batteries. High speed rail so good it puts commercial airlines out of business.
We have all these tools already, we've just made a decision not to use them.
