@npub15uf…ws6c to a degree there's a lot of concrete "technical" facts, and in that sense a "technical problem" makes sense. Most computer problems have a degree of objective reality involved. However technical decision making is about choosing how to act given those facts, which is most often vibes based and "socially" driven more than anything.

Lmao so the answer to "why crowdstrike broke" is that they literally have no staging deployment for the cloud based updates, and somebody deployed a thing without testing it at all because the offline content validation said it was fine.

Every alt-text is now going to start with "A huge dragon the color of a smoldering coal is attacking you!" If it were happening, that would be very important. So it's important to put it first just in case it is true one day.

I can't believe the whole Linux CVE mess. I had Linux CVEs hooked up to my keyboard heater, but now they're generating so many useless CVEs my keyboard is far too hot for comfort! I'm angrily waiting for the kernel team to take this problem seriously.
