The reasons I feel this would work:
1. It's incredibly easy to explain and understand.
2. You can still post text and links, so the core of the service is not affected.
3. It markets itself automatically: free users see attached images and videos and wish they could post them too.

Trying to think of realistic social media monetisation schemes, and the only one that feels tolerable is “if you pay a subscription fee, you can attach images and videos”. Has it been tried anywhere?

Are there any tools yet that find people you follow on Bluesky, on Mastodon? And the other way around?
Ever since the great Twitter migration started I've tried to keep track of where everyone went, so I don't lose anyone. But it's tiring. Be nice to have some help.

After working with the web platform for 15+ years this is the first time I’m rather happy with it.
CSS may have bloated, but is also the most flexible language for 2D UI and text layout.
JS is still full of footguns, but once you learn to step around them it’s fun. And really fast too, thanks to mega-optimised engines.
WebGL2’s fine, and so’s Web Audio. WebGPU will be nice. WASM too?
HTML is the same as ever.
Finally, tools like Tauri bring all of this outside the browser. Neat.
