As a reminder, the Western world and US have designated Hezbollah as a terrorist organization. The biggest concern is whether Iran will act, derailing a 21-day ceasefire plan that the US has been trying to secure. This agreement seems virtually impossible. Via ABC News: Police in Tempe, Arizona, responded to the office, which the local Democratic Party also uses, after they received calls from staffers about the damage. At least five bullet holes were found in the windows and the door. "No one was inside the office during the overnight hours, but this raises concerns about the safety of those who work in that building, as well as those nearby," Tempe Police spokesperson Sgt. Ryan Cook told ABC News. Tempe police said they were analyzing evidence and were taking "additional measures" after the shooting "to ensure the safety of staff and others in the area." A motive for the shooting has not yet been determined, and the investigation continues, according to the police. Via PBS.org: The false reports of an explosive began circulating hours before the Republican presidential nominee’s campaign event at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, just days after he was apparently the target of a second possible assassination attempt. Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said police questioned and detained a person who “may have been training a bomb detection dog,” near the site of the rally and “falsely reported explosives being found.” Lt. Scott Skrynecki, a spokesperson for the county police, said in follow-up messages that the person, who police have not yet identified, was a civilian and not a member of a law enforcement agency. But there is the video of Tyreek Hill being led away in handcuffs there with police on the way to the Jaguars game this morning . No one is kidding themselves about Ohio’s sprawling 12th district in the central and eastern part of the state. It stretches from the Columbus suburbs into the rural Appalachian areas next to West Virginia. And it’s been pretty red in recent memory. Trump won the district both times, 53-42% in 2016 and 52 to 46% in 2020. Troy Balderson, a college dropout who bankrupted his family’s car sales business, was first elected to the state legislature in 2008 and very narrowly (101,772 to 100,208) won the congressional seat when Pat Tiberi retired in 2018. In 2022 Balderson didn’t face a serious challenge and he was reelected 191,344 (69.3%) to 84,893 (30.7%) against Amy Rippel-Elton, who didn’t raise the $5,000 that would have triggered an FEC report, while Balderson spent over a million and a half dollars on his campaign. This cycle, Balderson has a much stronger opponent in progressive software engineer, small businessman and Navy veteran Jerrad Christian, who is running a vigorous campaign and has already raised over $150,000, around 70% of which came from small contributions (below $200).
