But nitpicky as I am I would not (yet) say Mastodon is shrinking.
Probably it's stagnant atm.
It might well be shrinking in the not so distant future when more and more people flock to bluesky.

But true: Mastodon is stagnant, whilst bluesky is booming.
I don't see that this will change. Mastodon is not really the experience that ex-twitter users crave.
That would be 2017 style -twitter. Which is bluesky.

In order to keep it that way I would suggest ramping up European aid to Ukraine proportional to Trump's polling numbers.

It's just a 45 day extension for negotiations.
Slovakia will be interesting in view of a potential coalition government.
But the most important election for Ukraine will be held in Poland in two weeks.

In Germany there is either lobbying for renewables. Or for fossil fuels. Especially in view of jobs in the mining industry.
Not for nuclear.
To put the blame on the Greens alone is wrong.
Before the Ukraine War no serious politician in Germany ever contemplated the return of nuclear.

I guess this approach probably wouldn't work anymore...

@npub1vz5…qdta @npub1hpc…hjn3 and regarding nuclear: in other countries it might be different, but in Germany the ones proposing nuclear power plants are not the ones that want to end coal...
So you have either nuclear and coal. Or renewables and coal.
Nobody is arguing effectively for nuclear and renewables around here.

The switch was to... Gas. Which is not really feasible anymore.
Lignite "just happens" to be relatively abundant. And protected by different interest groups.
Just built more nuclear power plants around us and we'll be happy to import your energy come winter time.

@npub1hpc…hjn3 @npub1nr8…zsxv Munich was good. And authorities in the Rhineland and Westphalia seem to be quite lenient.
I have no personal experience with local authorities in the rest of Germany.
But when dealing professionally with federal authorities (or company bureaucrats) based in the East I will always go for a walk afterwards...

It's basic structure can still be traced to the Imperial and especially Prussian bureaucracy.
And there is still the "Beamtenstatus". Even in the civil service there is a distinction between mere employees and "tenured" civil servants. State clerks / civil servants will have certain privileges and duties that others don't.
But the overall culture in the civil service is now less conservative and depends a lot on the branch/region.

@npub1nr8…zsxv @npub1hpc…hjn3 that was also my experience when studying in Sweden. A lot less hampered by bureaucratic thinking than most German government agencies (though even in Germany there are subtle regional differences when dealing with bureaucrats and how lenient they are).
