Publishing this post meant I needed to add support for mathematical notation to my blog. Had a lot of fun looking into the options and possibilities.
Ended up using https://katex.org/ which made the process really simple.
Now I just need to learn what all those numbers and squiggly lines actually mean... 😆

How did it feel publishing them over several days? Part of the reason I’m leaning to “one big post" is that it's a single story and I'd want to publish it all at the same time

Question for those of you who read technical blog posts:
I'm writing a post that just keeps growing, and there are probably three separate sections that are each as long as one my normal posts.
All three could be articles on their own, BUT they are telling a single story (I'm trying to do X, but needed to learn and dig into Y and Z to get X done)
Do folks prefer multi-part stories spread over several articles, or should I commit to having one mahoosive piece that tells the full story?

Where are folks buying their domains these days?
I've been using google domains for years, but don't want to use ▫️space (which is where all my g.domains stuff is moving now 😢). Looking for a nice UI, built in domain privacy, and easy control of a-name, c-name etc.

So after a long time putting off learning how to do it, it turns out #webcomponents are actually not that hard.
(Thanks to @npub1xed…yg9w for having so much example code on GH to borrow from 😆)
Screenshot shows my “Picobel” styleable-audio-tag widget running as a web component. Not published yet, as still a bit big (~40kb, with a lot of room for improvement) and no docs written, but proves it can be done.
And to think I was going to publish this as React component instead! 🤦‍♂️

It has been 0 days since I was last super annoyed by relative URLs in the content of RSS feeds my app in reading.
For the record: I am annoyed because this is a problem I should be able to fix on my end but haven't found the time yet.
(Although if you want to make all the links in your RSS feed absolute, that’d be awesome too!)

@npub19lt…qfjk Nice! Is the process of getting the webpage onto the screen the same as it was in 2020? (i.e. setting a non-https webpage as the screensaver for a Nook?)
Seeing the end result makes me want to play, but I'm wondering if there are "simpler" options hardware-wise. I imagine buying *just* the screen and hooking it up to a RPi would end up being more hassle 🤷

Question for any @npub1z9m…rz2z hotshots out there:
I’m writing a script that adds “related posts” to posts’ frontmatter. (an array in PostA’s frontmatter that references PostX and PostY)
What should go in that frontmatter? For flexibility it makes sense to put *all* of PostB in there (content, frontmatter, the whole shebang), but that feels totally gross.
If it’s just a reference (“permalink” maybe 🤷‍♂️), then that means the template has to do the lookup work.
What’s the sensible middleground?

Starting to feel pretty pleased with the #LLM generated “related posts" section at the bottom of all my blog posts.
Similarity is calculated by using embeddings and cosine-similarity, and the description is generated using #openai #GPT4
Tweaked the prompt to make the recommendations a little terser and more fact-based, which has made a big difference.
(Massively inspired by listening to @npub1f6a…pnql talk about the power of embeddings - and you know what? I think he was right!)

@npub1c35…9pmh I’ve had sidenotes on my site for years, and literally the only solution to this issue I’ve found is editorial: I’ve learned not to put footnotes too close together in the body text 😔

For context, I’m picking features to add to my browser-based reader (although from the look of that UI I’ll bet my app is nowhere near information-dense enough for you 😂 Maybe I need a “turn off whitespace” toggle 😛)
