@nprofile…uk9d Yes. I have cash and just bought some bread. The cash was handy. But also, I know the baker. I am 99.7% certain they would have let me walk out of there with no more than a "I'll pay next time I see you". In fact, I still have to pay for my morning coffee and that has nothing to do with the current situation. It was just busy so Thiago told me to come back some other time. Not disagreeing with you at all. This is a "yes, and". Cash is useful. Social connections and cohesion are super useful!

A number of football subreddits, including those of Liverpool, Arsenal, Man U, and Ajax have threads actively discussing whether to ban all links to X.com, which for football news is still very relevant. The response from sub members, i.e. football fans who want to hear the latest news and rumors about their clubs, has been overwhelmingly in favor of a ban with very explicit "fuck Nazis" replies. So far most mod teams are hemming and hawing. The Arsenal mods initially said they weren't going to do it but the sub members kept pushing and they are rethinking it. Again, we're talking football fans here. The few stray "let's keep politics out of this" replies are being massively down voted.

Another de-googling question. I use google calendar. So does my partner. This is convenient. It also integrates with Thunderbird on my laptop. I'd love for my calendar items to not live on a google server but still be easily shareable with my partner (who I may or may not convince to switch) and for me to continue to also see google calendars shared with me. Is there a way to make this so?

My local bulk oils/vinegars/vermouth shop has this sign up in their window, which translates as:
“Fuck Friday. 0%. The big ones apply discounts from time to time to get rid of unsold inventory. Small businesses apply honest margins throughout the year and cannot apply excessive discounts. It's still ridiculous that we imported Black Friday untethered from Thanksgiving.

100% here for no algorithm. But, a filter that shows my boosts only once would be great. Maybe if n *different* people boost the same thing show it to me again so I know it's popular. But I don't need to see the same thing 3, 4, 5 times a few days apart. Ironically it starts to feel more like I'm looking at an algorithm feed because instead of seeing toots in chronological order, my feed gets cluttered with older stuff. I don't want to turn boosts off entirely, though, because sometimes they're interesting.

My brother and I have a game where every time we run into a coat of arms or unusual flag in the wild we snap a photo and send it to the other. The challenge is to identify it, and if possible even geolocate it. It's like GeoGuessr but for heraldry. We've gotten pretty good at it.
After doing this for a few years I have come to sort of want my own coat of arms (without the aristocratic / lord / monarchy bits of course). So here's my first attempt.
