All repeat with me: #patents don't mean innovation.
Not all you read in patents will be future technology, not all innovative things end up in patents (the web, QR codes, for example), not all you find in patents is an invention, reading patents teach you nearly nothing about how technology works.
Software patents are mostly crap, and totally useless for developers anyway.

Logitech cameras fail to keep preferred settings over reboot. OBS doesn't do $*** about it, I took the issue in my hands. I created a simple script based on a similar one seen somewhere (ready to give credit). Not even copyrightable, but useful.

Common mistake: "it's sufficient to slap an OSI-approved license to make the software Open Source." Not quite. EG, many licenses don't require you to publish or give source code, but if it's not handed over, it's not Open Source under #2OSD.
The license is only part of the story.
