General Election. It's the start of the School holidays and i will be away. I have a theory about why every social media post about either cyclist or biker safety immediately gets swamped by really angry car drivers who want to kill us, and it comes down to ignorance.
Most cyclists and bikers are also car drivers, so we can see both points of view.

I want to change my pedals for better ones, but they're stuck. I've tried all sorts, including use of a strong person, heat, and WD40. They've only been on the bike for a couple o months, and i greased them when i put them on, so I don't know why they're so stuck. Any novel suggestions short of a grinder?#BikeTooter

The conspiracy theorists needn't worry about 20 minute neighbourhoods. The banks are all working really hard to close all the branches and make sure folk need to travel miles to find one. Same with dentists, schools, libraries, job centres, hospitals and all the things we used to expect to find in communities. To whose benefit? Not ours.

Stopped for a break in Nairn earlier. What a simple improvement away from letting vehicles park up against the barrier at the shore. A safe route that takes pedestrians away from moving traffic has to be a good thing. Well done to whoever is responsible. I'm not sure that dog walker got the memo, though.

There are shortages of everything and waiting lists for everything. The saddest thing about #Brexit is how quickly people have accepted this as normal. It was never normal to wait months for a bit to fix your car. You used to expect to find places open where you could just walk in, to eat when travelling around. You could find people to repair or renovate your house. Shops generally had things in stock. #ToryChaos isn't just about covid.

I keep waiting for it to be discussed as an option here, but we just get middle class solutions that aren't doable by most people, being touted. How does a ground source heat pump work if you live in a tenement or if you can't afford to insulate your stone built cottage? I'd like to use the excess heat from industry more, but how?

There's a lot of money allocated to improving active travel infrastructure in Scotland right now. Some of that money goes on employing people to deliver it. Some goes on public consultation where people overwhelmingly say they want it. Lots gets delivered successfully, but the only thing you'll ever see about it on TV is stories about where it goes wrong, or where a few loud voices are against a project and there's local conflict. #MediaFail

The BBC is reporting that Orkney wants to leave the UK.
On investigation, it would appear that this is just a proposed motion raised by one independent councilor. It hasn't even been discussed yet.
It was previously discussed in 2017 and rejected.
This is BBC agenda setting at best.

@npub1cvw…hwrq it's a foot trodden path across a sown field. The gates and signs would indicate that there is at least some kind of landowner access agreement in operation.
Not always the case where desire lines cross fields, and there have been some notable cases where walkers and farmers have come into conflict. As long as everyone is happy, go for it.
