My head canon on the Joker is that mental illness is not his problem; he may be a psychopath, but he’s the Joker just because “the Joker” is who he is—evil, sadistic, hedonistic, self-aggrandizing—not because of mental health issues. That he’s fully self-aware, and the asylum and the insanity talk is something he’s taken on as his brand because it’s the only framework the authorities have for dealing with him and it fits his goals.
Trying to actually explain who he is from a mental health perspective and giving him a backstory makes him less interesting as a character, and less effective. Bruce Wayne’s life is a tragedy. The Joker’s shouldn’t be. And, worse, as you point out, trying to explain him in this way just reinforces stigmas about people who struggle with mental health.

When I think about reading, the activity, I think of it as something distinct from listening to an audiobook. I enjoy the physical and mental act of reading. It is recreational for me in a way that listening to an audiobook isn’t.
But I do love and listen to audiobooks, and listening to audiobooks “counts” as reading, whatever that means. Realized it had been over a year since I played around with Windows Subsystem for Linux (and I hadn't even bothered with it on my Surface Go since I last reset it early this year), so I took it for a spin today.
Linux GUI apps in WSL2 have come a long way. I remember it being a pain in the ass the last time I tried it (18 months ago?), but I installed Firefox, Nautilus, and System Monitor via apt, and VS Code from a downloaded .deb, and all worked right out of the box.

I'm taking College Algebra this semester (working my way back up to Statistics), which requires a graphing calculator. I have to say, this TI-84 Plus CE has come a long way since the TI-84s we used in high school in the 1990s—it has a multicolor LCD screen and support for Python.
Maybe the next model will even add a feature that explains WHY THE FUCK ANYONE IS STILL USING A DISCRETE GRAPHING CALCULATOR IN 2024.
