Because of reasons outside my control, I have an "accessible room" which the hotel tells you means the bathtub and the bed are lower.
What it also means is some things that are more accessible for me (grab rails in the shower/bathtub, shower controls that are relatively easy to figure out) and some things that are less accessible for me (because there has to be room for a wheelchair to maneuver, the bed is too far away from the TV for me to watch it).
#Accessibility isn't just one thing!

I'm told this is going to be the most accessible #election ever for #blind people in the #UK.
Wouldn't take much: the blind presenter of a BBC podcast says she has never been alone in a polling booth. There is just almost no provision for #VisuallyImpaired people to vote independently and secretly.
And I've had such hideous experiences from polling staff that I vote by mail now, even though it means a nightmare of getting all the papers and envelopes into other envelopes and matching numbers.

I had a migraine aura come on so suddenly while walking the dog that I handed the leash to D because I felt safer not being responsible for Gary when I couldn't see even to my usual standard.
My balance was so impaired that I didn't want to go down stairs.
I fell asleep just as the pain was starting to sink in but I had vivid and terrible dreams.
And now the postdrome, so I'm too depressed to get out of bed for work this morning.
And people still think a migraine is just a bad headache!

October is Blindness Awareness Month, AMA! Fun facts to start:
93% of people with sight loss have some level of sight, even if it's just telling the difference between light and dark.
Braille users are pretty rare (I've heard different percentages but all in single digits) so don't think slapping Braille on everything means you're done with accessibility.
We tend to be very poor. 75% of working-age blind people in the UK don't have jobs. People think being blind means we can't do most things.
