Is it feasible to identify the fault in a dead motherboard myself with a fairly basic multimeter and some patience?
My mobo died last week and I had to replace it. I couldn't see anything obviously blown, but for my own curiosity I'd quite like to know what failed, especially if it's something I could reduce the risk of in the future (like reducing ingress of pet hair into the chassis... 😅)

@npub1yxz…6s8m While I agree with the intent behind this, that phrase "nobody could be bothered to write" assumes that people use a technology because they're lazy and consider the task beneath them. Disabled folk who use assistive technology to communicate, for example, would strongly disagree.
The problem, of course, is that enabling these genuinely life-changing use cases is of no interest to those peddling generated text right now. More money to be made from advertising "content".

@npub14d7…dm4s I mean long-form posts are federatable over ActivityPub as Article objects, it's just that Mastodon doesn't do anything with them or allow you to send them. Hometown renders them though, and you can post them on write.as for example

@npub14d7…dm4s I frequently play games on a fairly easy mode because I often just want the story or the satisfaction of Competing All The Side Quests rather than proving my awesomeness by completing the game on hard as nails mode

I have a low key quest to find a modern "true" #LiterateProgramming environment that lets you write in the order that makes sense for humans (e.g. some less interesting functions defined in an appendix, overall algorithm structure introduced first and then key parts fleshed out later) while assembling the source code into the order it's needed to execute (e.g. functions defined before they're used).
